Rooted in Rhythm Visual Model

The Nature Superhero Network

Welcome! We are glad you are here.

The Nature Superhero Network exists to reconnect humans with the natural world. We believe nature supports regulation, resilience, relationship, and growth across the lifespan.

This platform intentionally serves two communities:

  • Parents, caregivers, and families

  • Occupational therapy practitioners and professionals

While your roles may differ, the foundation is the same:
humans thrive when they are supported, understood, and connected to themselves, to others, and to nature.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where humans are deeply connected to the natural world, supported in their nervous systems, and honored for who they are.

A world where:

  • Children with differences are understood, not rushed or fixed

  • Families feel empowered, supported, and confident in their advocacy

  • Occupational therapy practitioners lead with compassion, strong clinical reasoning, and sustainability

  • Nature is recognized as essential to regulation, healing, and human development

We believe resilience grows through the resonance of relationship, the rhythm of regulation and routine, the realization of self awareness, the understanding of our roots and restoration of our mind and body, all which is supported by nature connection and adult facilitators who lead from knowledge and heart.

OUR MISSION

The mission of The Nature Superhero Network is to reconnect humans with the natural world while supporting regulation, capacity building, and meaningful participation in daily life.

We do this by:

  • Providing families with accessible education, practical tools, and nature-based strategies that honor each child’s unique nervous system and developmental rhythm

  • Equipping occupational therapy practitioners with Rooted in Rhythm, a clinically grounded framework for ethical, effective, and sustainable nature-based practice

  • Bridging heart-centered care with evidence-based intervention

  • Valuing deep listening, thoughtful observation, and collaboration with families

Our mission is to create environments, relationships, and practices where children can thrive.

Below you see the visual model of our practice framework, Rooted in Rhythm. You can click the image to read a blog post about it.

Rooted in Rhythm Practice Framework

What is "Rooted in Rhythm"?

Rooted in Rhythm is a theoretically informed practice framework grounded in nervous system regulation, sensory-motor integration, and ecological context and a consideration of the natural world as a physical context, designed to support functional participation and relational engagement in neurodiverse children.

Who is the nature superhero?

The Nature Superhero Network is a shared home for families and professionals who believe that connection to the natural world supports regulation, resilience, and meaningful growth.

Whether you’re a parent or caregiver seeking gentle, practical ways to support your child or an occupational therapy practitioner building a sustainable, nature-inspired practice. This is where compassion meets clinical reasoning, and nature becomes the foundation.

Nature is not an extra. It is essential.

A Nature Superhero is anyone who supports a child—partnering with the natural world to nurture human potential with love, empathy, and compassion; honoring relationship as the foundation for growth; responding with creativity and wholeness; and helping children and families build resilient capacity while discovering their unique strengths.

The Visionary

Meet Lisa Haverly, the visionary of this platform.

I came to occupational therapy because I wanted to help children grow and thrive. Over time, I realized that meaningful growth happens through relationship, movement, and connection to the world around us.

Like many parents and professionals, I began to feel the weight of doing more, faster, and with less space to truly see the child in front of me. I found myself longing for a way of supporting children that honored the whole human in mind, body, and spirit.

My own childhood, spent outdoors with freedom to move, imagine, and belong, quietly shaped this knowing. Nature was not an “extra”—it was the foundation. It supported regulation, confidence, curiosity, and resilience in ways no table top activity ever could.

That knowing led me to begin Rainbow Tree Therapies in 2013, starting gently with a few nature-based camps and a simple hope to create spaces where children felt safe, capable, and seen. Over time, this work grew into therapy, camps, education, and a framework now known as Rooted in Rhythm.

Today, this space is for parents who sense their child needs more time, more understanding, and more connection.
And it is for professionals who feel called to practice with compassion, strong clinical reasoning, and deep respect for the therapeutic relationship.

Here, we believe growth happens in rhythm and not rush.
That details matter. Listening matters. Nature matters.

You are invited to slow down, reconnect, and explore a way of supporting children that feels grounded, relational, and sustainable and not only for them but for you.

Resources

This website offers free resources and paid resources.

The trainings support you in taking therapeutic support services outdoors into nature.  The trainings do not replace formal training for your professional skills. It is assumed that you would engage in therapy services that fall within OT scope of practice and that are in alignment with licensure laws within your practice state or country.

The resources clearly connect OT to nature and give you tips and strategies that have worked for over 10 years.
